The GBGBs return to review another Ryan favorite, Eyes Wide Shut (1999)! This movie stars Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman as a young married couple navigating their relationship while Tom stumbles into a strange seedy underbelly that he can't seem to stay away from..... EWS is also known as Stanley Kubrick's last film and is HOTLY debated amongst critics. Will the GBGBs like this movie even though it runs almost 3 hours? Will they get to the bottom of this strange mystery?

The Last Stop in Yuma County (2023)

This week the GBGBs review The Last Stop in Yuma County, a neat lil indie flick starring Jim Cummings. The movie is about a traveling knife salesman getting trapped at a diner with a pair of bank robbers and a handful of locals and hijinks ensue. If any folks want to actually see this movie, we'd recommend NOT watching the trailer and going in cold.

Dog Soldiers (2002)

AWOOOO it's a werewolf episode!!! Dog Soldiers is a Bri'ish film that stars a lot of proper blokes like Kevin Mckidd and Liam Cunningham. It's about a team of soldiers trying to survive an attack by a pack of werewolves while on a training exercise in the Scottish Highlands. Listen as the GBGBs discuss werewolf mechanics, whether they'd choose to be a werewolf if given the chance, and novel uses of the word "bone".

The Thing (1982)

After years of waiting, the GBGBs finally review Ryan's favorite movie, THE THING (1982)! Directed by John Carpenter, The Thing stars Kurt Russell as a stoic research scientist trapped in an Antarctic base with a shapeshifting alien that is violently assimilating his coworkers. Hijinks ensue, and somehow multiple WWII flamethrowers get involved. 

We've also heard rumors that one of us is an assimilated Thing alien. We would like to publicly refute those rumors and assure our audience that gloopity schlorp glorp squelch SKREEEEEE

Dune (1984)

Note to our listeners: This episode was recorded back in December 2024, before David Lynch's passing in January. RIP David Lynch, maybe one day the GBGBs can honor your work by reviewing some of your other buck-wild amazing films. 

 

This week the GBGBs review DUNE (the version from 1984). The first DUNE, before the pretty solid 2000 made-for-TV DUNE, before the excellent Denis Villeneuve DUNES, and before the ill-advised HBO series DUNE: Prophecy. This movie introduced mainstream audiences to Kyle Maclachlan and Patrick Stewart and had to break a lot of ground quickly for the sci-fi epic genre. In addition to sandworms, this movie had the distinct advantage of including inner-monologues, heart-plugs, cat milking machines, rat capri-suns, and a soundtrack by Toto. The GBGBs discuss if this movie was too harshly judged in its time and if it's worth the journey for modern DUNE fans.

Trap (2024)

The GBGBs are BACK with a review of the LATEST M. Night Shyamalan flick, TRAP. Josh Hartnett stars as just your everyday dad who's secretly a serial killer. All he wants to do is take his daughter to a concert to see her favorite pop star, Lady Raven (played by Saleka Night). Hijinks ensue when it turns out the concert is doubling as a giant sting operation to catch Josh Hartnett. This movie is a thrilling cat and mouse game that asks the age old question: can't we all just relax and have a good time watching Shyamalan's silly movies?

Jennifer's Body (2009)

This week we review cult horror-comedy classic, Jennifer's Body! Is 16 years long enough to be a cult classic? After missing this movie when it came out, we heard it went through a bit of a cultural renaissance the past few years so we thought we should give it a watch and see for ourselves. 

Megan Fox stars as Jennifer Check, a high school student who becomes possessed by a demon and begins hunting the local boys at her school. It is up to her best friend Needy, played by Amanda Seyfried, to put a stop to the bloodshed and save her town!

This week we got a GREAT EPISODE, and you got your PODCAST FEED right up it! We're watching the 1995 Michael Mann-directed heist-movie classic, HEAT. Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino face off in a cat-and-mouse game as an unbeatable heister catches the attention of an obsessed detective. Bank heists, shootouts, car chases, and an ensemble cast that will keep your butts glued to the seat. Just don't watch this thing on Pluto TV where there's 57 ad-breaks.

This pre-MCU Marvel adaptation stars Wesley Snipes as BLADE, a sword-wielding half-vampire on a mission to avenge the death of his mother and rid the world of vampires.
